In the Psychosocial Model, love is what makes the world go round. Love is like oxygen. Love lift us up where we belong. Love, in other words is learned. Parents and family teach one to love from early on. As the disorder progresses, love will hurt, yet like a moth to a flame the subject will keep going back for more. In the addiction model, the subject will be drawn to that which hurts them, so love will attract those it should intuitively repel.

Brain scan studies show that those in love will have more frontal lobe activity than those currently not in love. Integrative studies believe the love disorder is both biochemical and psychological so that both drug therapy and psychotherapy are in order to cure this condition. Intensive 3 - 6 month rehab programs may be in order to treat an individual in dependent upon love.

So, what is love? Love is an incurable condition but may be managed with proper care and a life-long commitment to abstinence.
